GRN LogoWell, not literally, but Catholic radio is pretty cool. All over the country, Catholic radio keeps on springing up in city after city, strengthening & encouraging Catholics in their faith. It’s awesome!

Most stations have daily local shows while most of the air time comes directly from EWTN radio. This means soul-food such as Fr. Corapi–daily (yay!) and Catholic Answers Live.

Dave Palmer AwardThe Dallas/Fort Worth area was blessed by the return of Dave Palmer (recent award winner of the Bishop’s Pro-Life Award for Education at the 14th Annual Pro-Life Bishop’s Dinner in Dallas, as seen to the left) who was key in bringing the Guadalupe Radio Network to Dallas in late 2006. He has a fascinating daily show. With guests such as Karen Garnett, superstar Executive Director of the Catholic Pro-Life Committee (one of the largest Diocesan-based Pro-Life groups in the nation) and juniors and seniors from The Highlands School telling about interesting experiences while lobbying in Austin, it’s so easy to learn about the richness of our Church through our brothers and sisters living the faith!

I have to mention one story of a high-schooler who told about her experiences lobbying in Austin on Dave Palmer’s show on KATH 910 AM. While on line at the taco salad station during lunch at the Capital, she was approached by an older woman with a striking question: “Do they teach you sex-ed at school?” She was still taken aback, but figured that her school uniform gave her away. After some clarification, she replied, “We are close with our teachers, and we have nurses available to answer any questions that we may have.” “Then how do you know if you’re doing it right?” the woman asked. She replied, “I guess I’ll find out when I’m married”, and the conversation ended there. (As it turns out, this woman just so happened to be in a high position with Planned Parenthood.)
